Getting Serious About Blogging.

So back in 2014, I started my blog Brown Eyes And Boots, with the intentions of writing a new post every day, trying new crafts, creating posts about meal plans, etc... but then life happened and I fell off the face of the blog world...until now.

Since then, a lot of things have transpired in my life: I've changed jobs, relationships have come and gone, we moved to a new house, my children are older...and surprisingly enough, my age stayed the same. Yep, still 25...for the eleventh year in a row. (wink, wink )

I regret not keeping up with my blog for these three passing years, but I'm not going to let my procrastination continue.

Why is having a blog so important to me? In all honesty, I'm hoping to one day be able to work from home and that the opportunity may present itself through my blog, but if it doesn't, I have found that writing is a stress reliever for me. I like talking about the things that happen in life, researching subjects, trying different crafts, cooking with new recipes and just pretty much sharing what is on my mind.

I've noticed that most blogs have an agenda on what they write about...I'm too spastic and have way too many interests to stick to one topic. I like to write about whatever pops in my head, it may be about a serious topic, something I found funny, an informative article or maybe I need the opinion of my readers.

My philosophy is that everyone is a subject matter expert in life. We can all learn something from each other.

I will post videos from time to time because I have found them to be therapeutic in nature and as I get more comfortable with my blog I'll have it attached to Facebook, Pinterest, and other social media sites later on.

 Right now, slow and steady wins the race for this over-worked but determined country girl.

Poor Man's Pot Roast

So the other day, my wonderful neighbors brought us a head of cabbage, red potatoes and some cucumbers out of their garden. I love fresh produce and unfortunately didn't get the chance to plant a garden myself this year so this was such a wonderful and welcome gift. :-)

I'm not much of a cabbage person unless it is in coleslaw so I saved half of the head for that. The other half of the head I chopped up and put in the crock pot with the red potatoes, diced up, and about 2 lbs of beef pot roast that I got at my local Grocery Outlet. Love, Love, Love Grocery Outlet...if you have one near you, check them out! I did this all around 1:30pm yesterday and it has been on low in my crock pot since. If I could put a scratch and sniff on the computer, y'all would be salivating! The smell in my house is so inviting. Makes me remember why I like to cook, especially with the ol' crock pot...very little work involved with alot of rewards. :-)

Before putting in my fresh and oh so yummy veggies, I put my roast in the crock pot with some water which covered alittle over half of the roast. I let that cook for about an hour or so and then added my veggies. I also added a pinch of salt, acouple shakes of pepper and about 1/8 tsp of onion and garlic salt. I'm not much for measuring unless it is completely needed so you'll have to forgive me, I eyeball seasonings. :-)
You could also add celery and onions, I didn't have any on hand so I'll try that next time. :-)

I love cooking with my crock pot, like I said earlier, not only for the ease of cooking but it just seems like you can get so much more flavor and there is no limit to how creative you can be. Chicken or Pork could also be used if you don't eat beef. That's the wonderful thing about cooking...you can customize to fit the needs and likes of your family. :-)
